Bloody Spring Road

UPPER TULPEHOCKEN, Pa. — Bloody Spring Road has amazing historical stories attached to it. At the same time, some of that history has led to many more stories of spirits of the past still lingering on a road with such a dark history.

In the early 1800s, the Spatz family, which settled there and had a home on the road, was forced from that home by Indians and massacred down by the spring — hence the name “Bloody Spring Road.”

There also was a man who shot himself in the one shed, an infant child who passed away and a woman who was killed in a horse accident.

And many believe their spirits remain.

JAM Paranormal was contacted by the Atlas Media Corp. to investigate Bloody Spring Road. Atlas Media Corp. is an independent production company based out of New York City that is producing a Web and VOD series on streets with scary names for Fearnet.com.

We accepted to do it; however, it required us to spend less time investigating and more time gathering video for the documentary.

We finished the 1 ½ hour investigation with plenty of video and about an hour of audio. Nothing showed up on the video, and we didn’t have any cameras set up in any specific locations. We were merely using our cameras for the documentary.

On the digital audio, review showed nothing out of the ordinary, and using the K2 meter and EMF meter, we were unsuccessful in finding anything paranormal. At one point, the EMF meter did spike to a 3.4, but we soon realized we were walking on the portion of the road where power lines cross over.

The K2 was quiet all night.

The investigation of the shed where the man shot himself and the spring where a stone monument is located in memory of the Spatz family did not yield any results either.

As for personal experiences, we did not have any.

Now, just as we are not prepared to classify Bloody Spring Road as haunted, we also are not ready to say it isn’t. We would feel better with a more thorough investigation before making our decision on this location.

JAM Paranormal has been and will remain in contact with the homeowners on Bloody Spring Road and return sometime in the near future to investigate.

Note: We thank Fearnet.com for the opportunity and the homeowners for their generosity on the night of the investigation.
