READING, Pa. — JAM Paranormal was contacted by a family living just outside the city of Reading, Pa., and after a month of interaction between the client and us, we set up an investigation for Feb. 6.
Investigators Craig Johnson and Brett Miller, along with myself, were on hand for the investigation.
The reports coming from the client ranged from experiencing the feeling of being touched to doors closing to noises coming from the kitchen. The client also informed us that they were not comfortable with going into the basement.
We set up cameras in the kitchen and in the master bedroom where activity has been reported. We also set up audio devices in the basement and in the bedroom of one of the client’s children.
We did have a personal experience that was odd, but we were able to classify it as not paranormal. At one point, while in the master bedroom, we thought we saw the light from the window in the room at the end of the hall be blocked out once or twice, but we did not capture this on camera. We believe that the light of cars passing by on a main road created this illusion of paranormal activity.
We also believe the bathroom door, which was said to close by itself, was not closing due to any paranormal activity. The client said that their cats would be closed in the bathroom, so we checked the door and found that with it being a pretty heavy door on a loose-swinging hinge allowed the slightest push to send the door toward being closed. This offers up a logical explanation for this.
After reviewing about 14 hours of audio and video evidence, JAM Paranormal did not find any evidence of paranormal activity at the residence.
We did, however, find a few explanations for some of the problems that the clients are experiencing.
Originating from the basement, there is a gridwork of copper pipes that run throughout the ceiling of the basement, also the floor through the kitchen. There is energy emitting from this piping, registering on the electro-magnetic field (EMF) meter from 150.0 to plus-200.
This high EMF output was noticed immediately as Craig was using his K-2 meter during the client’s tour. It lit up right away and was continually lit throughout the house.
Using the EMF meter along the floor on the first floor, as some points in the kitchen and living room, as much as 40 to 50 EMFs were bleeding through the floor.
The bedrooms on the second floor also have higher EMF readings than normal, but it is not as high as the first floor and the basement.
With the amount of EMFs in the basement, it is easy to understand why the clients are uncomfortable there, as exposure to high EMFs can cause hallucinations, feelings of uneasiness— like they’re being watched — anxiety and skin irritation, just to name a few side effects.
The feeling of uneasiness would explain why they are uncomfortable in the basement. The potential for skin irritation can also explain the feeling that they’re being touched. The client explained that the touching experience felt more like a light graze, as opposed to a grab or a push. This kind of irritation could be directly related to the high EMFs.
This does not discredit the client’s claim, but it gives it a logical explanation. The inordinate levels of EMFs can only offer an explanation, but not an official answer.
At this juncture, we suggest that the clients look into securing the copper piping in an effort to eliminate the output of high EMFs. This could not only end the paranormal problems, but should also make for a healthier environment for the clients and their children. We suggest buying some conductive tubing to surround the pipes in order to block the EMFs from emitting outward.
We will monitor the situation and if the clients continue to experience paranormal activity, we will look to investigate further.
